Christmas is coming and it’s going to be the BEST year yet.
I know it’s easy to get overwhelmed when you start thinking about holiday food….but let me assure you, you are going to blow this season away with fun, joy and love. Let me share some of the ways I’ve made things special over the last few years.
Advent calendars: I buy fun calendars off Amazon. Will typically gets a Lego one, my daughter likes girly-like crafts or spa stuff, and my oldest is getting a fishing bate calendar this year. Last year, I bought a few packs of baseball cards, and individually wrapped one for each day. Start looking early for ideas bc Amazon always does a flash sale around Thanksgiving. I was at Home Goods the other day and they had the cutest “make your own” advents. I bought one for my dogs. (they think they are human)
Treats, school parties and what to do with gifted baked goods: All Day I Dream About Food and Keto Adapted - Maria Emmerich both have holiday e-books. They also have amazing blogs with free recipes. Really, that is all you need. I’ll link some of my favorites below.
School parties are not a problem. I always send in safe alternatives for Will. Michael’s is a great place to go for fun packaging ideas. You don’t even need to just send in food, a Robux card with a Lily’s chocolate goes a long way! It’s something fun to look forward to doing after school.
Candy for stockings: Lily’s chocolates and gummies, Dr. John's Healthy Sweets peppermints, butterscotch candy and suckers, HighKey Snacks cookies (holy COW the ginger snap are SO GOOD), The Scrummy Sweets Co. (the best gummy bears), Fat Snax cookies, Pur gum (I find big bags at Marshall’s).
Breakfast: low carb quiche, low carb monkey bread, low carb bagels with lox and cream cheese. Coffee with Peppermint nutpods creamer and homemade whipped cream.
We don’t have to show love through feeding sugar. We can spread joy by keeping our families healthy and safe. The Christmas Spirit isn’t about food, it’s about LOVE. And we have plenty of that to share.
