A real gift from Type WON are all of the wins that have happened since changing our lifestyle.

I was interviewed by Documenting Hope to share how I healed my son from ADHD symptoms. At the end of the video there is a link with different things I did.

In case you miss it…here you go

1. Our family all went grain, starch and sugar free. No wheat, potatoes, rice, corn, grains or high sugar fruit or unhealthy sugar substitutes. Some things I pack for his school lunches: - dinner leftovers- bunless cheeseburgers/chicken burgers - meatballs - grain-free bagel sandwiches- Chobani SF or Keto Ratio yogurt with keto granola -Munk Pack or Think KETO bars- homemade lunchables - HighKey or Fatsnax crackers - Hilo or Quest chips / pork rinds - meat sticks, cheese sticks, SF jello - chicken salad - chef salads with ranch.

2. We discussed mindset a lot in homeschool. We did several activities about grit, perception and self-love. We studied happiness and how our emotions can impact our decisions. We even made our own guided meditations. I’ll see if I can link it up! Here are some of our favorite resources - https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/.../When-I-Make-A...- https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/.../GROWTH-MINDSET...- https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/.../GROWTH-MINDSET...- https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/.../Build-Your-Own...

This is a video of an amazing gratitude experiment! We did this, and called the people we wrote about. It was probably the best activity we did all year.

3. Our favorite breathing technique is what we call “box breathing.” Breathe in for 4, hold for 4, Breathe out for 4, then hold for 4. Repeat 4 times. It’s amazing how it can really reset the moment.  We also do 10Second hugs. These are especially helpful if we are upset with each other or just feel anxious. We call it “heart synching”

4. It was during our time spent homeschooling where I actually could see the true behaviors and inability to focus without the meds. But the real-life event was my younger son developing diabetes. It caused us all to pause and rethink lifestyle. In a way, it’s been a gift.

5. Diet, mindset and lifestyle changes don’t happen overnight. Addictions are hard to break. The mind has to be trained to focus on the good stuff. When social behavior is explained, it’s easier to understand why focusing on our emotions is important. Communication is vital. I talk to my kids often about fear, worry and limited beliefs. Thoughts become things. We are capable of writing our own stories.
